Thank you for your request to the Department of Conservation, received on 16 January 
2024, in which you asked for: 
 
“Please supply all submitted Works Approval requests and surrounding 
correspondence for Turoa Ski Field from 1 August 2023.” 
 
This letter is further to our earlier correspondence of 6 March 2024, in which we advised you 
that we had made a decision on your request but that additional time was required to prepare 
material for release. Thank you for your patience while we finalised that process.   
 
As previously advised, I have decided to release relevant parts of the documents listed in the 
Table 1 Schedule of documents attached to this letter. Some information, as previously 
indicated, is withheld under the following sections of the OIA: 
 
•  section 9(2)(a) – to protect the privacy of natural persons; 
•  section 9(2)(b)(i ) – to protect the commercial position of the person who supplied the 
information, or who is the subject of the information. 
 
In making my decision, I have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of 
the OIA and determined there are no public interests that outweigh the grounds for withholding. 
You  are  entitled  to  seek  an  investigation  and  review  of  my  decision  by  writing  to  an 
Ombudsman as provided by section 28(3) of the OIA.
