Thank you for your request to the Department of Conservation, received on 16 January 
2024, in which you asked for: 
 
“Please supply all submitted Works Approval requests and surrounding 
correspondence for Turoa Ski Field from 1 August 2023.” 
 
We have considered your request under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (OIA). On  
13 February we extended the timeframe to respond to your request to 6 March due to the 
consultation necessary. 
 
This letter is to advise that under section 15(1)(a) of the OIA, I have decided to grant your 
request. However, more time is required to prepare the response for release. We expect to 
be able to provide you with the final documentation no later than 14 March 2024 and 
appreciate your patience while this process is finalised.  
 
For your reference, some information supplied wil  be withheld under the following sections of 
the OIA as applicable: 
•  section 9(2)(a) – to protect the privacy of natural persons; 
•  section 9(2)(b)(i ) – to protect the commercial position of the person who supplied the 
information, or who is the subject of the information 
 
In making my decision, I have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of 
the OIA and determined there are no public interests that outweigh the grounds for withholding. 
You  are  entitled  to  seek  an  investigation  and  review  of  my  decision  by  writing  to  an 
Ombudsman as provided by section 28(3) of the OIA.
