Thank you for your information request dated
11 November 2023.
You asked for the following
information:
“I’m just enquiring to find out what was the total amount of funding for the Māori
development at 1029 east coast road, Kaiaua, Pingao Estate Ahu Whenua Trust.”
Your request has been considered in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act).
The total funding being provided from Te Puni Kōkiri to Pīngao Estate Trust for the
development at 1029 East Coast Road, Kaiaua, is $5,226,705. This funding has been
provided for the following purposes:
• to increase the supply of affordable housing through a contribution to the
infrastructure and/or planning ($90,000)
• to increase the supply of affordable housing through a contribution to the
infrastructure and/or build costs for a papakāinga ($4,990,080)
• for master planning to enable the Trust to create whenua-based business
opportunities for whānau ($146,625).
Please note that information about the first grant noted above is already publicly available on
our website. Information about the other two grants will soon be available in the 2022/23 List
of Investment Recipients, which is awaiting publication.
