Oversight of COVID-19 Technology Response
Officials have provided you with a draft Cabinet paper outlining what oversight is
recommended for technology solutions proposed and deployed in support of the
Government’s response to COVID-19 (‘the COVID-19 Technology Response’). The paper
recommends the establishment of a dedicated group to provide oversight and coordination
for the COVID-19 Technology Response.
We are seeking your approval to carry out Ministerial, coalition and support party
consultation on this paper between 18 and 20 May 2020. Subject to your agreement to the
final draft, we propose lodging this Cabinet paper on 21 May 2020, for consideration by
GOV on 28 May 2020.

Bluetooth-enabled Card Assessment
Officials continue to work on the assessment for a Bluetooth-enabled card. You received a
briefing on 13 May 2020 which sought your direction on policy matters regarding the
Bluetooth-enabled cards. A follow-up to this briefing is planned for 29 May 2020 that will
ask for feedback on detailed decisions on policy and regulatory settings as well as other
matters, such as the approach to distribution and branding should the card end up being
implemented.
On 20 May 2020 the results of the initial field testing of the cards will be available. A briefing
will be provided to you on 21 May 2020 summarising the results of the testing and seeking a
decision on whether a larger field trial should proceed.
