GWRC Requests to the WCC for Bus Priority since 2014

Tony Randle made this Official Information request to Wellington City Council

The request was successful.

From: Tony Randle

Dear Wellington City Council,

There have been a number of reports where the Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) have stated the need for bus priority to ensure the new Wellington City bus service works.

One example is outlined in the DomPost Story "Driver shortage and lack of priority lanes hampering Wellington bus network improvements" on 6/12/2018 (https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/1091504...). This story includes the following statement:
"We've asked Wellington City Council to help us urgently progress bus priority [lanes]. Without this, frankly, the operational gains we are making now will only be of secondary value," chief executive Greg Campbell said.

I am interested in obtaining a copy of the requests by the GWRC to the WCC for bus priority and any WCC responses.

1) Can the WCC please provide a copy of all formal requests from the GWRC to the WCC for bus priority measures received between 1 January 2014 and today ?

2) Can the WCC please provide a copy of any formal response provided back in response to the GWRC requests for bus priority measures outlined in 1) ?

If this information is held in electronic form, it is preferred that this information is provided in its complete and original electronic format.

Yours faithfully,

Tony Randle

Hello Tony,

Thank you for your patience.

Having checked with the relevant Council teams, I can advise that we have
one formal letter from GWRC concerning bus priority measures, as attached.
This does not discount the informal discussions that have taken place
between representatives, elected members and officers, of both Councils
during this time period.

Kind regards

Dear BUS: Assurance,

In March this year, I asked the WCC for the following information:
"1) Can the WCC please provide a copy of all formal requests from the GWRC to the WCC for bus priority measures received between 1 January 2014 and today ?
2) Can the WCC please provide a copy of any formal response provided back in response to the GWRC requests for bus priority measures outlined in 1) ?"

In April, the WCC responded saying:
"Having checked with the relevant Council teams, I can advise that we have one formal letter from GWRC concerning bus priority measures, as attached. This does not discount the informal discussions that have taken place between representatives, elected members and officers, of both Councils during this time period."

Can the WCC please also respond to 2) and provide a copy of any formal response from the WCC in response to the GWRC letter of 16 December 2014 that has been previously provided ?

Yours sincerely,

Tony Randle

Hello Tony,

Thank you for sending this through.

Sorry, I should have been more explicit with my response.

There was no formal WCC response to the GWRC letter of 16 December 2014.

Kind regards

Chris
