Dear M Whytock
Official information request for grade distribution for all papers run by the
Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science
I refer to your official information request dated 5th of March 2019:
I would like to request a grade distribution break down by course (paper) for the
last 5 years for all papers run by the Faculty of Engineering and Computer
Science. By grade distribution breakdown I mean for each paper you would detail
how many people got each grade available each year (e.g. for COMP102 in 2015
there was 1A+ 2A 3A-.... in 2016 there was 0A+...... etc.).
The information you have requested is enclosed.
However, we have decided to withhold all grade information for classes with less than five
students under section 9(2)(a) of the Official Information Act 1982. The release of this
information would pose a significant risk to the privacy of said students, and their
achievement within their respective courses. The University believes there is no
countervailing public interest outweighing the students right to privacy.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
