Dear Mr Andrews
I am responding on behalf of Hauora Tairāwhiti (Tairāwhiti DHB) to your OIA
Request of 14 January regarding Medical personal cost
You asked our DHB:
I am looking at the "Schedule5: Annualised Average Consolidated Cost per FTE" on
the MoH's website
https://www.health.govt.nz/new-zealand-health-system/key-
health-sector-organisations-and-people/district-health-boards/accountability-and-
funding/summary-financial-reports/dhb-sector-financial-reports-2017-18 It appears that for the year ending 30 June 2018, the annualised average cost per
FTE of Medical Personnel was approximately NZ$ 303,000 which works out to be
approximately NZ$ 25,000 per FTE. So a medical personnel who works 40 hours per
week is paid approximately NZ$25,000 per week. This sounds very high.
Are you able to clarify the following points?
So in the year 2018, the average cost per FTE of a medical personnel at TDHB is
approximately NZ$ 25,000. No, this would be the average Monthly cost, the average weekly cost is $5826.92
per week.
The average cost per FTE just includes labour expenses? No, this is all costs.
Also could you please tell me based on the latest expenditure schedule what is the
current cost on per FTE of Medical Personnel?
The current average cost is $4797.48 p/w or $250,000 per annum
