Erik, Finn,
A positive update with respect to electric chargers for fleet & public use, following a meeting with our roading compliance team yesterday:
<![if !supportLists]>1. <![endif]>Ballance / Willeston: Your detailed plans were met with no feedback; proceed as-is. Next step: After contract is signed please lodge a Corridor Access Request to proceed with these installations.
<![if !supportLists]>2. <![endif]>Further sites with passed resolutions, which you supplied me with high level “X” marks showing approximate location for chargers. No feedback, but based on the assumption that you will take an identical approach to fittings and designs as Ballance and Willeston. Next step: Please draw up detailed site plans for all of these now and circulate to me so that I may check for anything that might cause an issue. After contract is signed (and following my OK of the detailed plans) please lodge Corridor Access Requests to perform these installations.
<![if !supportLists]>3. <![endif]>Aro, Tennyson and Tinakori are in a different situation, given parking resolutions have not yet passed. My plan is to -
<![if !supportLists]>a. <![endif]>I share proposed locations with you here in this email for your confirmation these are suitable. Tinakori and Tennyson are proposed to be moved as per DRAFT word documents attached. Aro Street will be proposed to remain in original location as per attached PNG image. Please do not share this information ahead of WCC taking the information out to the community. I understand you have already checked power in this area but seek your confirmation on both electrical and car parking suitability.
<![if !supportLists]>b. <![endif]>I take these proposals to affected submitters/neighbourhoods as necessary, to get community feedback. Potentially looking at opening the feedback as soon as next week, and closing that 15 days later.
<![if !supportLists]>c. <![endif]>I take proposal and community feedback to council mid to late November for a decision on whether to approve these parking resolutions.
<![if !supportLists]>d. <![endif]>If all of the above come to pass then you will be able to draw up detailed site plans and lodge Corridor Access Requests before Christmas, although installation work itself is potentially subject to date restrictions around the Christmas period. Clearly approval however will be subject to feedback from community and the relevant committee.
The roading team asks that you batch the Corridor Access Requests where possible and to email [email address] (and cc me) to inform them that you’ve loaded several of them for acceptance. You can then expect a 1-2 week turn-around on these assuming typical workload. The requests are to include the detailed site plans and be accompanied with traffic management plans.
I have updated the spreadsheet (column H & I) you shared with me, to reflect the above. I have also reviewed the power levels and proposals on where to subtract or add public chargers; my only suggestion, given the its regional destination status and high profile, would be that you might wish to consider a further (or dual) public charger at Oriental Bay.
Cheers
Sigurd

Hey Sig
Site plans for Ballance / Willeston attached.
I noted that Bolton and Victoria St sites have Car Sharing signage today, so let me know if we are happy with the charger configurations at those sites and I will get site plans happening for them. I have pre-emptively booked a site visit with PBA (our installers) next Tuesday 10th. If we have clarity on public charger #'s by then they will be able to get site plans together shortly after that.
Tom - it looks like there is a smart meter alongside the Bolton St site, and a rubbish bin at Victoria St. Do you have any thoughts on the plan for these? It seems like it would make sense to shift them, but I'm not sure what usually happens here.
Sing out if you need anything else from me.
Cheers
Finn

Finn,
I went through through these and had no further feedback so didn't require a meeting; thank you for providing all of that.
I will talk these through internally and aim to get back to you mid to late this week.
I may have information on the other three sites (Aro, Tinakori, Tennyson) to share then also.
You have detailed plans for one or both of Balance and Williston sites, yes? Can you email that through? If you don't have detailed plan for either of those, please do a rough mark up like you did last week. Please send that through by end of Tuesday if possible.
Cheers
Sigurd

Hey Sig
No worries, attached is a summary of our current thinking. Have noted Mevo chargers in orange and public chargers in light blue. Notes on the sites:
- I believe the adjacent park on Bolton St is a disabled park. We think it will be great to have a public EV charger here.
- Victoria St has 150A available at the TUD right next to the site, so we would like to capitalise on this by putting 3x public chargers in. I note that there is currently a rubbish bin here that we may need to shift down the road when we do the civil works - is this a big issue Tom?
- For the rest of the sites, a simple extra charger seems to be easy enough. I've positioned them in the document but these are more of an early indication than a fully-specced layout.
I've also attached an updated schedule of sites including Tasman St which I missed off the last one.
In terms of catching up, I'm in Auckland this Thursday and flying out again early-ish on Friday. I could do coffee at 8:30am tomorrow, 8am Friday, or a phone call Thursday or Friday around lunchtime. Let me know what works best for you.
Cheers
Finn

Thanks Finn, I will digest properly a bit later in the week. Were you also able to fire through the "not fully detailed" site plans re (public and private) EV charger positioning? It could be the relevant public parking resolution document pages from WCC with a marker or digital scribble on them... (I see for example you've noted which sites would lack or have additional public chargers, so be good to know where exactly you think they'd go)
Doing this allows me to be efficient and I respond / discuss across everything in one go. If you want we could target a catch up on Friday assuming you've sent me the plans before then?

Also point 3 should include Tasman.

Hey team,
On point 4, those 3 sites need to be reconsulted on pending some changes requested by Councillors after community feedback.
As for 1 and 2, as soon as we have a contract finished I’ll fire it through.
Best,Tom

Subject: Summary of Mevo sites
Morning Sig
Hope you had a great weekend. Just following up our conversation last week at EECA with a schedule of sites (attached). Let me know if there's a project management tool you'd like me to load these into, or whether excel is okay for now.
Points to note (as discussed):
- Ballance and Willeston aren't looking good for EV charging. The split parking spaces in combination with the distance from 400V cabling would put us $30k and $20k respectively over budget. That said, we need to get these sites operating ASAP, and we can charge the cars elsewhere.
Action: Keen to discuss options for this. We note there is a TUD across the road on Ballance St, and there are options for us around the corner from Willeston on Victoria St. Moving the parks slightly would be ideal for us, and we're happy to incur some cost for re-painting/signage - but it's just not feasible for us to be spending so much on underground cabling. Otherwise, happy to hear other options.- Victoria and Bolton are looking v promising. We have ordered EV charging hardware in line with the numbers in the spreadsheet.
Action: WCC to confirm whether or not the proposed public charging (1x at Bolton and 3x at Victoria) is acceptable, and we will kick off with WE to get the ball rolling ASAP.- Oriental, Kelburn, Roxburgh will require us to order more vehicles. Proposed to schedule these for delivery December 1, to give us 6-8 weeks to ramp up the next 12 cars. If the timelines on sites 2-5 slip then we may need to push this back a little.
- Aro, Tinakori, Tennyson: Keen to hear more detail on the status of these, and when we might expect a go/no-go decision.
Action: WCC to provide more info when available.- Sites 12+
As detailed, we were initially looking at some of the CBD unmetered bays, but this has missed the November round of TRs as we understand it.
Action: WCC to provide information on:
- When is the next round of TRs we could get in on?
- Is the allocation of 30 metered bays exhausted at this point?
We are working hard with private space partners to place extra vehicles, and this will progress in parallel. For now, we'd like to shoot for getting all but pods 15 and 16 on public land.
Hopefully, there's a good level of detail here for you, but let me know if I can fill in any gaps or provide any more info.
Cheers
Finn
