Mt Smart Stadium 
 
Thank you for your information request regarding the financials of the Mt Smart Stadium. 
 
Auckland Stadiums is an operating division of Regional Facilities Auckland (‘RFA’), a Council 
Controlled Organisation (‘CCO’). Auckland Stadiums is responsible for the management and 
operations of QBE Stadium, Western Springs and Mt Smart Stadiums. RFA does not report 
financial performance on separate stadiums as management and operational costs are 
incurred across all three, to ensure efficiency and value for money for ratepayers. 
 
Auckland Council provides capital funding for all RFA venues and funds a minor portion of 
RFA’s operating expenses. On average, Auckland Stadiums generates 90% of its funding 
via its commercial activities each year. The balance is funded by Auckland Council via RFA’s 
operating grant.
