Thank you for your email dated 23 May 2018, requesting information about cycle lanes.
What is the legal status of the marked cycle lanes in the section of Richmond Road
between Warnock Street and Surrey Crescent?
Response: The legal status of the cycle lanes in the section of Richmond Road from Surrey
Crescent to Warnock Street is that of special vehicle lanes reserved for cycles. These cycle
lanes were created by way of a resolution pursuant to clause 10 if the Auckland Transport
Traffic Bylaw 2012 passed by the Traffic Control Committee. We have attached a copy of the
resolution report for your reference.
What instructions, if any, have Auckland Transport given to Parking Enforcement
Officers working in the area named above with respect to what action should be taken
against vehicles that are parked in or blocking a cycle lane?
Response: No
instructions have been given to Parking Officers because the cycle lane project
is not yet complete.
Since the installation of the cycle lanes in late 2017, how many infringement notices
have Auckland Transport issued in the area named above for the following offences:
Parking on a broken yellow line or other area designated as no stopping - Rules 6. (1)
and 6.4(4) of the Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004.
