Official Information Act (1982) Request 
 
I write in response to your Official Information Act request, received by us on 07 May 2018. You 
requested the following information: 
 
It has been two months since my original request, and I would like an update on my original 
questions as follows. 
 
1) What types of surgery will Rita be performing? (FFS, Breast Augmentation, MtF, FtM {etc}) 
 
Dr Yang has been employed by CM Health as a Consultant (Senior Medical Officer) Plastic 
Surgeon  to  further  the  ability  of  the  Plastic  Surgery  Department  to  meet  the 
reconstructive needs of the regional community.  
 
2) What MtF Vaginoplasty procedures is Rita able to perform / will perform? (Penile Inversion, 
Rectosigmoid, peritoneal graft {etc}) 
 
Dr Yang is a fully trained Plastic Surgeon, who has undertaken additional postgraduate 
training in the full range of microvascular and transgender procedures. 
 
3) What FtM procedures is Rita able to perform / will perform? 
 
Dr Yang is a fully trained Plastic Surgeon, who has undertaken additional post-graduate 
training in the full range of microvascular and transgender procedures. 
 
4) When is a multi-disciplinary surgical team likely to be appointed? 
 
The Auckland Regional Plastic Surgery Department continues to strive to meet the needs 
of the community within the limits of a capacity and funding constrained public hospital 
environment. It is hoped that these (transgender reassignment surgery) services will be 
provided when there is capacity and funding. 
 
5)  How  long  after  a  Multi-Disciplinary  surgical  team  is  appointed  will  the  waiting  list  be 
resumed? 
 
The Auckland Regional Plastic Surgery Department continues to strive to meet the needs 
of the community, within the limits of a capacity and funding constrained public hospital 
environment. As with any new service, Transgender services will be provided if, and when

capacity and funding allow. We are currently unable to put a more specific timeframe to 
this.
