Request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your request of 30 April 2018 to Auckland Transport requesting CCTV footage under the 
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). Pursuant to section 14 of the Act, your request was transferred 
to the NZ Transport Agency for response on 2 May 2018. 
 
In particular, you have requested the following: 
 
…CCTV footage of an incident between two cars - a black Honda Fit (KJJ911) and an unknown 
vehicle  -  at approximately 8 pm on 28th February 2018 at the Nelson Street offramp of the 
Northern Motorway. I would like to know the licence plate number of the other car involved in 
the accident, for insurance purposes 
 
The CCTV system is designed to overwrite existing footage every three to seven days, depending on 
the location. As the Transport Agency received your request more than seven days after the date of the 
incident, the relevant footage has not been retained. Your request has therefore been refused under 
section 18(e) of the Act as the information does not exist. 
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse 
this request. The
