University of Auckland doctoral attrition rates 2014-2017: doctoral enrolment
terminations in each calendar year as a percentage of the total doctoral enrolments
within the calendar year
Please note the following:
• Reasons for terminations include students accepting other programme offers,
employment commitments, family/health or other personal reasons, financial
hardship and students who are not recommended for continuation.
• “total doctoral enrolments within the calendar year” refers to the total students
(enrolled in the University or faculty) at any stage of a doctoral programme in a given
year.
• Given extreme variation in size of faculties, the variation in percentages may not be
statistically significant.
