I write in response to your Official Information Act request, that we received on 30 January 2018.  You 
requested the following information: 
 
•  Do  you  have  a  surgeon  who  is  capable  of  performing  gender  reassignment  surgeries  (i.e. 
genital reconstruction)? 
•  If not - are you in the process of recruiting a surgeon with such capabilities or considering the 
recruitment of such a surgeon? 
 
Yes,  we  have  a  surgeon  with  the  relevant  technical  expertise;  however  we  do  not  yet  have  the 
appropriate  multi-disciplinary  clinical  team  established  to  support  this.  We  will  make  further  public 
announcements when the required services are available.   
 
CM Health has previously applied for funding from the Ministry of Health’s high cost treatment pool to 
enable patients to travel overseas for genital gender reassignment surgery.
