RESTRAINT MINIMISATION AND SAFE PRACTICE COMMITTEE
PURPOSE:
To ensure that Hauora Tairawhiti restraint practices comply with the requirements of New Zealand
Standards NZS 8134.2:2008- Restraint Minimisation and Safe Practice.

MEETING SCHEDULE: Monthly or otherwise as agreed by Committee
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: The RMSP Committee have the designated responsibility on behalf of Hauora Tairawhiti to
coordinate appropriate restraint approval, training, use, compliance, evaluation and review.
The group is responsible and accountable for ensuring the standard is met.
Develop and review policies and procedures that comply with NZS 8134.2:2008- Restraint
Minimisation and Safe Practice including the approval process prior to presenting to Clinical board.
Ensure Implementation of approved restraint policies and procedures.
Ensure audits occur, are monitored and action plans have been implemented.
Regularly review the education requirements ensuring they meet the Standards (NZS 8134.2:2008)-
Restraint Minimisation and Safe Practice).
