14th December 2017
Dear Mr Devere,
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
I refer to your request dated 11 & 12 October 2017 in which you requested information about a
search warrant carried out by NZ Police of a firearms dealer during a search warrant in Auckland.
The file no relating to the complaint is 160907/5594.
I have considered your request in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982.
As this is an employment investigation and outside the scope of your request I have declined your
request pursuant to the following reasons.
Under S9 (2)(a) of the Official information Act. Information may be withheld in order to protect the
privacy of any individual.
I can say the incident involved a formal search warrant not a warrantless search and the
investigation found no evidence that firearms were left on the lawn as suggested.
If you are not satisfied with my response to your request you have the right to complain to the office
of the Ombudsmen and seek an investigation and review of my decision.
