South Karori Bridge Investigations
8-12 May 2017
Dear Resident
Further to my letter last August about site inspections of bridges in South Karori, we’re now
planning to do some geotechnical investigations in May. This will give us more information
as we look at possible upgrades for the bridges, if required, to meet latest structural
guidelines.
MWH New Zealand will be doing this work on our behalf during the week 8-12 May 2017.
You can expect to see their engineers on the stream banks doing visual inspections of bridge
foundations and removing soils for assessment purposes. While the inspections may require
some minor hand digging to remove small areas of vegetation for a look at the soils, no
heavy machinery or equipment wil be involved.
The investigations shouldn’t cause any inconvenience or access problems. In some instances,
MWH staff may need to access private properties for the investigation work. Before
entering your property, they wil knock on your front door. Please note, they do not need to
enter your home.
If, during the visit, no one is at home, they will leave a card in your letterbox informing you
that they have visited your property to look at the bridges. If you have a dog, please let
MWH staff know.
If you have any questions about this project, please call me or contact Dugall Wilson from
MWH Ph 027 836 0004.
Thank you for your support as we work with Wellington City Council to ensure strong, safe
and reliable infrastructure in your area.
Yours faithfully
