Dear Mr Werry
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
CAS-482200-P2R8N7
Thank you for contacting Auckland Transport (AT) on 1 June 2017 requesting details of any plans that
Auckland Transport has to improve bus, pedestrian and cycle links between Takapuna Centre and the
Akoranga station.
At the outset, we sincerely apologise for the delayed fulfilment of your request.
Auckland Transport’s response to your request for information is as follows:
Bus links between Takapuna and Akoranga Station
Auckland Transport refuses your request in reliance on section 17(d) of the LGOIMA as the information
requested is publicly available.
You can find this information online at the link provided below:
https://at.govt.nz/projects-roadworks/new-public-transport-network/new-network-for-north-shore/
Pedestrian and Cycle Links between Takapuna and Akoranga Station
The Cycling and walking programme confirms that there is no active investigation to improve cycle links
between Akoranga and Takapuna.
The Auckland Transport future programme is contained in a draft Programme Business Case.
Takapuna is identified as a priority area for investment for the period 2021 - 2024. Actual route corridors
for improvement in Takapuna are not likely to be identified until 2020, when capex funding is likely to
become available.
While Auckland Transport has no projects to provide information for, there are projects that are being
developed by others, or are identified in future network plans. These include the NZTA Seapath project
(that links to Akoranga Station) and the Devonport and Takapuna Greenway Plan that identifies a future
aucklandtransport.govt.nz
project from Esmonde Road and Takapuna via a reserve path running parallel to Barrys Point Road.
For further information on these projects, please contact NZTA and Auckland Council directly.
We trust the above information has addressed the matters raised however, should you believe that we
have not responded appropriately to your request, you have the right in accordance with section 27(3)
of the LGOIMA to make a complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman to seek an investigation and review
in regard to this matter.
If you have any further queries, please contact me on (09) 355 3553 during business hours, quoting
Local Government Official Information request number CAS-482200-P2R8N7.
Yours sincerely
