Information requests: Fire Service Levy consultation submissions 
 
I refer to your request for official information of 27 January 2017, made through the fyi.org.nz 
website.  You requested copies of all submissions received by the New Zealand Fire Service 
Commission (NZFS) in response to the ‘Funding Fire and Emergency Services for all New 
Zealanders’ consultation document. 
 
Your request has been assessed under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and a decision 
made to release the information you have requested.  Please note that some information has 
been redacted from submissions where that is necessary to: 
 
  protect the privacy of natural persons, in accordance with section 9(2)(a) of the OIA; or 
to 
 
  protect information where the making available of the information would be likely 
unreasonably to prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied or who 
is the subject of the information, in accordance with section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the OIA. 
 
The NZFS does not consider that these interests are outweighed by other considerations which 
render it desirable, in the public interest, to make the redacted information available. 
 
In accordance with your email to Louise Robinson on 2 February 2017, the submissions have 
been copied onto a memory stick and sent to you with a hardcopy of this letter. 
 
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to make a complaint to an Ombudsman
