MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK 2025
FLUROFEST EVENT FEEDBACK SURVEY 2025
CREATED BY YOUTH VOICES ACTION

FluroFest, a free community event hosted by Youth Voices Action in collaboration with Te Whatu Ora Hauora ā Toi, and
Tauranga City Council, is designed to promote mental health and wellbeing. Held during Mental Health Awareness Week,
the event offers family-friendly activities inspired by the Five Ways to Wellbeing framework.
Each pillar of the Five Ways to Wellbeing is actively incorporated into FluroFest activities:
CONNECT - The event encourages attendees to unplug from devices and foster meaningful connections with whānau,
the community, and the environment
BE ACTIVE - Physical activity is promoted through engaging options such as a blow-up football field, planking
competition, mini-putt, disc golf, and dancing to live music performed by the Harmonic Resonators.
GIVE - The spirit of giving is exemplified by the volunteers who dedicate their time and the distribution of "Five Ways to
Mental Health and Wellbeing" merchandise to attendees. This year we had 20+ volunteers help set up, pack down and
carry out these surveys.
TAKE NOTICE - FluroFest provided plenty of opportunities for attendees to be present and enjoy the vibrant
atmosphere. This year’s entertainment lineup included a special debut performance from Nathan Samson Thompson,
Tauranga Moana Culture Group and the all-inclusive dance group from Mount Dance Co, delivering captivating
performances that celebrated community and creativity.
KEEP LEARNING - FluroFest offered engaging and interactive activities to encourage continuous learning. Attendees
had the opportunity to participate in the "Have a Go" circus, view market stalls, and write positive messages on the
vibes board, each designed to inspire curiosity and support personal growth.
FluroFest featured a diverse range of interactive activities, live performances, and educational stalls, all designed to
promote positive mental health practices and community wellbeing. Participant feedback is integral to the ongoing
development of the event, ensuring it continues to evolve in alignment with community needs.
This year, FluroFest welcomed an estimated 3,000 attendees throughout the afternoon. Volunteers collected surveys
from approximately 75 participants, whose insights will help shape future iterations of the festival. To encourage
participation, all survey respondents were entered into a draw to win a $150 Prezzy card, generously donated by the
Western Bay of Plenty Primary Health Organisation (WBOP PHO).
