final outcome, particularly where cases are ongoing.
For context, the Ministry does not routinely receive HPDT decisions. The Ministry’s role under
the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act) is limited to undertaking
prosecutions of the HPCA Act, such as cases where individuals provide services without a
practicing certificate. In such prosecutions, the Ministry general y requires only requires
evidence that the person does not hold a practising certificate. HPDT decisions are not
necessary for this purpose.
