Auckland South Corrections Facility (ASCF) Induction Video Summary
Part 1
This video begins with a karakia before giving an overview of the opportunities available within ASCF,
the expectations of al people in ASCF and the point of contact for any questions. This part also gives
an overview of the Custodial Management System (CMS) and where people at ASCF can access this
system.
Part 2
This part provides an overview of the different units at ASCF. A prisoner discusses the different units
and gives an overview of the self-care unit and how to become eligible for self-care.
Act 1982
Part 3
The visits hal and how to book a visit is mentioned in this part. Expectations and options for
engaging in education, industrial training and educational courses while at ASCF. This part also
includes prisoners discussing how engaging in industrial training and the release to work
programmes at ASCF has positively impacted on their time in prison and prospects when they are
released.
Part 4
A case manager and a programme facilitator discuss their roles and how they support prisoners while
in prison. An overview of reintegration activities and programmes are also outlined. Chaplaincy
services are also highlighted.
Part 5
A healthcare worker outlines the different roles within the healthcare team and services that can be
accessed through this team and how referrals work. Group therapy and medication are also
discussed as well as how to contact the healthcare team.
Part 6
A staff member closes the video by reminding the viewer that they can refer to the information
booklet provided, log on to CMS or speak to staff directly for further information or advice.
