We refer to your information request below. Hamilton City Council provides the following response.

I am writing to request the following information:

1. A list of all public facing CCTV cameras owned OR operated by the Hamilton City Council, any Council Controlled Organisations (CCOs), and CitySafe.

2. A list of all cameras used for Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) within Hamilton.

3. A list of all cameras used for traffic enforcement e.g. red light, point-to-point and standalone speed cameras within Hamilton.

4. For each camera identified by requests 1-3, please include in a spreadsheet the GPS location (preferred if available) or a description of the general location and purpose (nearest intersection or point of interest). Please also include the brand and type of camera (e.g. Axis PTZ 360).

5. If possible, could you please indicate in your written response what kinds of traffic enforcement are currently undertaken using the identified cameras, and whether there are current or future plans to broaden the kinds of enforcement activities undertaken using said cameras.

 

Our response:

We have 3 vehicles kitted out with ANPR cameras. The vehicles are also fitted with cameras to take photos of tyre positions.

 

5. If possible, could you please indicate in your written response what kinds of traffic enforcement are currently undertaken using the identified cameras, and whether there are current or future plans to broaden the kinds of enforcement activities undertaken using said cameras.

 

The Parking team are currently using the ANPR vehicles to identify the following offences:

P106 – parking over time limits P5, P10, P15, P30, P60, P120, P180 and P240.

P105 - Prohibited area.

P107 – Parked in area marked by broken yellow lines.

P108 - Parked in an area reserved for hire and reward.

P114 – Incorrect kerb parking – left side of the road.

P115 – Parked on a footpath or cycle path.

P127 – Parked on a flush median or traffic island.

P128 - Parked on a special vehicle lane.

P350 – Parked on lawn, garden, or verge.

P542 – Parked in metered parking place without paying the applicable fee.
