Same as 2023
ACT

Council
Much easier with just one point of contact re Waterfront.
Master key very useful as ever only held by JW, never handed out.
MEETINGS
AND
Venue
Lighting good around lagoon and on waterfront promenades.
Thanks to Andrew for pre-powering upper Frank Kitts sockets.
Managed request re loading of walkway by the stage using fencing & security. More standing
there this year due to fences not scrimmed as wind gusts.
INFORMATION
Waterfront Fencing
Added fencing and security to outer T, costs hitting the budget.
Added fencing and security to reduce path by stage, costs hitting the budget.
Added fencing to wind wand.
OFFICIAL
Weather
Tricky year with rain covering half of the stage right up till early evening. Some strong wind gusts
during the day. Rain and wind did drop off as the night continued, so much so it was quite calm
for the fireworks and the end of the gig.
GOVERNMENT
Orchestra Wellington
Due to rain in the day and current weather forecast for the rain to continue it was decided to
LOCAL
pull the orchestra due to the instruments, an orchestra rep was on site as we discussed this. As
is the case the weather forecast changed again to no rain at the time of the concert.
THE
Fire Dancers
Due to perform
UNDER at the interval round the outer of the fountain. Tried to rehearse but called it off
as strong wind gusts made their performance space too risky and blew out their fire hand tools.
Opening Act
Due to the cancellation of the orchestra we moved the opening act up to the main act, starting
RELEASED
with the kids countdown then playing till midnight. Did a great job and are a good covers band.
Sound System
NW Group back again with their helpful crew. Added in delay speakers for the back of the
lagoon so they could lover the levels on the main stage hanging speakers. Worked but there was
a quieter band just before the delay speakers as the main speakers faded away. Soon as you got
the right side of the delay speakers it was great again. Better quality sound, but the main
speaker volume had been lowered a little too far.
1987
Big Screen Truck
ACT
Better than 2023, but one of their workers again turned up in jandals so we would not let him
work on /around the truck.

AND
. Due to the strong wind gusts and waves, the barge was slow getting
across the bay so at kids countdown unable to launch barge fireworks. Doubled down and
launched the upper Frank Kitts fireworks for kids and main countdown just for the kids.
Main midnight fireworks went off fine with lots of clapping and cheering by the crowd. Wind
INFORMATION
had dropped so went smoothly.
Crowd
Event was full with a good turnout on the waterfront. Not as busy as 2023 but the weather can
OFFICIAL
certainly be the cause for this. Ws a later rush down at 11.30pm once the weather had calmed.
Still large crowds.
Toilets
Provided the usual 15 unit trailer & 1 disabled next to the boatsheds for the event around the
lagoon. Added a neon sign over the event toilet
GOVERNMENT s so those at the event can easily see where the
toilets were. Placed signage along the waterfront to advise of other toilet locations.
LOCAL
First Aid
Low number of patients and in all cases none directly as a result of the event or its
THE
environment.
UNDER
Event Rubbish Collection/Recycling
Very successful, Organic Wealth manned the 4 waste collection stations and processed the
waste. 4
RELEASED Chameleon crew carried out sweeps of the event site collection rubbish on the floor
and for 2 hrs after, cleaned the lagoon and Odlins of floor rubbish.
Waterfront Rubbish Contractor
Did a great job and provided bins as requested.
General
Another wonderful evening in the unique space with a great turnout. Not sure anyone can
complain for a free event to get the orchestra, lightshow and fireworks. s7(2)(f)(i)
