Tēnā koe Mr Wang,
25/OIR/067 Response
In response to your request dated
19/09/2024 we have prepared the fol owing:
1) What is the CAA going to do to ensure that electronic devices brought onto airplanes have not
been interfered with by 'israelis', or supporters of 'israeli' terrorism?
CAA constantly assess the threat and risk to civil aviation and ensure that the aviation system has
measures in place to detect explosive material. We cannot discuss the methods of detection as that
would introduce a vulnerability into the system, as such we are refusing this request under section
6(a) of the official Information Act 1982.
2) Please provide all CAA documents and communications regarding the terrorist 'pager' bombings
from the past couple days.
We are refusing this under section 18(e), the CAA does not have any documents, other than media
reporting, of the pager incidents.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely,
OIA Team
