Official Information Act request relating to Government targets charts 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act (the Act), received on 12 
September 2024. You requested: 
 
Your factsheets at https://www.dpmc.govt.nz/our-programmes/government-targets on 
the nine Government Targets have charts showing historical information for each 
target. Can I have the data that each chart is based on please. 
 
The fact sheets were created by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) 
however the data used was sourced from the agencies responsible for each target as listed 
below: 
 
•  Ministry of Health - Target 1 and Target 2 
•  Oranga Tamariki and Ministry of Justice – Target 3  
•  Ministry of Justice – Target 4 
•  Ministry of Social Development – Target 5 
•  Ministry of Education – Target 6 and Target 7 
•  Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and Ministry of Social Development – 
Target 8 
•  Ministry for the Environment – Target 9 
  
In the circumstances, I believe your request for the data upon which these charts are based is 
more closely connected to the functions of the Ministry of Health, Oranga Tamariki, Ministry of 
Justice, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Housing and Urban 
Development and Ministry for the Environment respectively.  
 
Accordingly, I have decided to transfer your request as set out above to the appropriate agency 
for a response under section 14(b)(ii) of the Act.  
 
Each agency has the usual timeframes under the Act from receipt of this transfer to make a 
decision on your request.
