Thank you for your email of 29 April 2023 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment 
requesting the following information. As you are aware, this was transferred to the Ministry of 
Education (the Ministry) on 4 May 2023 under section 14 of the Official Information Act 1982 (the 
Act).  
The list of employers who are on the Ministry of Education-funded school bus service list. 
Your request has been considered under the Act.  
The Ministry of Education is the second largest provider of passenger services in New Zealand. 
Every day we help around 100,000 students get to and from school safely, in approximately 7,000 
vehicle journeys. This includes buses to and from school, travel between schools to access 
technology facilities and specialised services for students requiring additional assistance to access 
education.  
The list of Ministry-funded daily and tech school bus providers is publicly available on the Ministry’s 
website at the link below. As such, I am refusing your request in full under section 18(d) of the Act.

Please note, transport providers for Directly Resourced and Māori Medium schools are not 
included in this list. While the Ministry provides these schools with funding that they then use to 
procure their own transport service providers, the Ministry does not hold a record of these 
providers.
