Re: Qualifications of Mayor Brown

I refer to your email, which we received on 20 March 2023, requesting information about the
qualifications of Mayor Wayne Brown.

Your request and our response are below.

Regarding this article, https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/300834307/auckland-mayor-
wayne-brown-says-145m-road-cone-spend-is-unjustifiable, Mayor Wayne Brown has
made it sound like he personally has analysed the traffic management of Auckland
and is personally making decisions on the safety of road workers and the public.

I am requesting the relevant qualifications and certificates that Mayor Wayne Brown

has to be making decisions on road safety and traffic management set up, as well as
his qualifications to be making traffic management impact analysis.

I also request his analysis of the economic and societal impacts of traffic

management he has done for the Auckland region.

Mayor Wayne Brown holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree and is a Fellow of the
Institute of Professional Engineers. Mayor Brown was Chair of the Land Transport Safety
Authority, founder of Brown and Thomson Consulting Engineers and has been a two term
Mayor of the Far North District Council.

In addition, he has designed, owned and built many roads for both public and private clients.

There is no analysis of the economic and societal impacts of traffic management he has
done for the Auckland region.

The decision by Auckland Council to release the information contained in this response was
made by Rose Leonard, Manager Governance Services.
