Official Information Act request: Community Magistrate recruitment
Thank you for your email of 10 January 2023, requesting, under the Of icial Information Act 1982
(the Act), information relating to Community Magistrate recruitment. Specifically, you requested:
“May I ask during this round of Community Magistrates appointments. How did you cal for
public nomination and on what platform you have cal for public nominations, e.g. govt.jobs
website. Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many
you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or ministry of women.
Within these applications, how many you have interviewed.”
Cal s for expressions of interest in this round of Community Magistrate appointments were made
via public advertisement on the following platforms:
• the Ministry of Justice website (Statutory Appointments)
• seek.co.nz
• the Auckland District Law Society Newsletter (LawTalk)
• the New Zealand Law Society Newsletter (LawPoints)
• Freeman Media’s Legal Newsletter (Capital Letter)
Seventy-five (75) expressions of interest were received as a result of advertisement through
these platforms, and of those, 16 individuals were subsequently interviewed. No expressions of
interest were received from nominating agencies.
