Probably the things to note around disinformation in NZ that are concerning (and we will be providing this in our 
ACT 
ongoing reporting to DPMC as well) is as follows: 
 Disinformation has begun to pivot away from the anti‐vaccine and anti‐mandate themes. This has happened
in part because of the recent govt changes to the mandates and also the way the occupation at parliament
ended (which while not quantifiable, left the previously glossy images and sunny portrayals of the

occupation as nothing more than a peaceful gathering in tatters as many of the more moderate at the
occupation pulled out over time and ceded much of the space to those with more extreme views and
stances). Many of those in these space have talked of “resets” and begun to canvass supporters for the next
area to focus on with a noted level of discussion around attempting to use the energy generated to make a
run at politics or tackle similar issues such as “government overreach” and “police brutality”,
While sites like NZDSOS remain exclusively focused on COVID‐19 (https://nzdsos.com/posts/) and support
covid disinformation content from individuals such as Guy Hatchard
(https://nzdsos.com/2022/04/20/research‐snake‐venom‐and‐covid‐19/) other sites such as Voices for
Freedom (VFF) now mix their anti‐covid and anti‐mandate content with anti‐government messages and

articles about wellness, alternate health, the coming food crisis and personal finances
(https://www.voicesforfreedom.co.nz/finances‐farzin). They also link articles from the BFD
(https://thebfd.co.nz/about/ )(a blog site which notes it is centre‐right in orientation but is associated with

VFFs telegram channel is a good indicator of the content changes. Sue Grey
(https://suegrey.co.nz/) remains also active in the Covid space but like others has diversified her content.
Sites like CounterSpin Media are a good example of where the covid content is mixed and just part of the
overall narrative which contains the noted themes of conspiracy, global elites etc
(https://counterspinmedia.com/resources‐videos/) and where CSM is just part of a larger network of sites
(in this case InfoWars in the US which is now filing for Bankruptcy after defamation lawsuits ‐ Conspiracy

theorist Alex Jones' Infowars website files for bankruptcy after defamation lawsuits | Newshub). However,
there are many small sites and channels and FB pages (such as this one https://www.facebook.com/True‐
Stories‐from‐The‐Health‐Forum‐NZ‐102087642445347/) Which regularly recirculate and repost material.
