Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of 
Health on 6 October 2022. Your request was transferred in part to Te Whatu Ora - Health 
New Zealand on 19 October 2022 as the information is more closely connected with the 
functions of our agencies. 
 
You requested the following information: 
 
2) The two relevant purposes of the information being collected, as stated in the Privacy 
section of the NZ Traveller Declaration website itself, are: (a) The Ministry of Health may use 
this information for contact tracing, to provide relevant public health messaging, and on 
occasion to request that you complete surveys; and (b) Travel history may be used by the 
Ministry of Health for contact tracing. 
  
Please provide the number of occasions that the information provided in NZ Traveller declarations 
has been used by the Ministry of Health for the purposes listed above. 
 
Your request for this information is refused under section 18(e) of the Act as this information does 
not exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be found.
