We refer to your official information request dated 5 October 2022. You have asked for data,
for the years 2010 – 2022, for Wainuiomata Cemeteries, as follows:
“Total Number of people buried per year for the years above broken down into age
brackets 0-9, 10-19, etc etc.
Aerial Maps - if possible, can you provide an aerial photograph for each cemetery at a
certain date per year”

The Wainuiomata Garden of Remembrance is the only council ground in Wainuiomata.
Information relating to the Garden of Remembrance is enclosed in the appendix to this letter.
The numbers of burials in any given age category in each year for the Garden of
Remembrance are low. Accordingly, the annual burials for each age group are withheld under
section 7(2)(a) of the LGOIMA, to protect the privacy of individuals. Instead, we have provided
you with the
total number of burials since 2010 in each age group. In making this decision, we
have considered the public interest in making the information available and have determined
that it does not outweigh the need to protect the privacy of these persons.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response.
