Request for information: Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine.
Thank you for your request dated 16 September 2022 under the Official Information Act 1982
(OIA) for information relating to Moderna. You requested:
Is Pharmac looking at purchasing COVID-19 vaccine made by Moderna that
targets two coronavirus variants (known as a “bivalent” vaccine)? If yes,
please provide me with the following documents:
•
How many doses have been ordered?
•
Cost per dose?
•
Criteria used to assess whether to purchase or not?
•
Scientific studies used to support purchase?
Pharmac does not hold any information in response to your OIA request, as there is no
current commercial arrangement between Pharmac and Moderna to supply COVID-19
vaccines to New Zealand. Pharmac staff met with Moderna on Tuesday 13 September 2022
but are not actively considering any commercial proposals.
Please note you have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(3) of the OIA to an
Ombudsman, to seek an investigation and review of our decision.
We trust that this information answers your queries. Please get in touch with us if you have
any questions about this.
