Your Official Information Act request, reference: HNZ00006259
Thank you for your email on 16 July 2022, asking for the fol owing which has been considered under the
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). Please see outlined below a response to each part of your request.
“Of the 132 I need to know a sequence of events. Such as:
•
arrived with chest pains to be checked out at hospital
•
had a test and tested positive for Covid-19
•
what is their vaccination status
•
how many of the 132 cases are recorded in the Medsafe report as from vaccine? It isn’t clear,
for all I know these 132 cases could be 132 of the cases that are recorded in the list of AEFIs
Despite the spin you are trying to put on things. Myocarditis is a side effect from the vaccine. This is a
fact.
Simple question - how many of the 132 were vaccinated?”
Te Whatu Ora does not hold detailed clinical information relating to hospital admissions.
Al of the 132 individuals had a positive COVID-19 test and 119 of them had received a COVID-19
vaccination at some time prior to their diagnosis of myocarditis in hospital. The number of vaccinated
individuals is consistent with what would be expected given New Zealand has a highly vaccinated
population, with a similar proportion of the overal eligible population having received a COVID-19
vaccination.
We do not have information on the number of these cases that were included in the Medsafe report.
Therefore, this part of your request is refused under section 18(g) of the Act. It is important to keep in mind
that all reports of myocarditis that are submitted to the Centre for Adverse Reactions Monitoring (CARM) are
included in the Medsafe report. A report can be submitted for any cause and is not necessarily causally-
associated with the vaccine.
