Your Official Information Act request, reference: GOV-020259
Thank you for your request of 30 August 2022, asking for the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
We note that there have been 62937 adverse reaction claims lodged in relation to the
administration of the Covid 19 vaccination as at 30th of June 2022
Please advise how many of these claims have been accepted as a treatment injury claim and what
these claims encompass (diagnosis, symptoms, physical injuries, death etc)
The figure quoted in your request is not claims lodged with ACC, it is the number of Adverse Events
Fol owing Immunisation (AEFIs) reported to MedSafe
ACC does not hold data related to the AEFIs reported to MedSafe, we can only respond based on the
vaccine related claims lodged with ACC.
ACC publish COVID-19 vaccine injury data online
This data is available on the ACC website, here:
https://www.acc.co.nz/assets/oia-responses/covid-19-
vaccination-claims-refresh-august-2022-ipa-8450.pdf . The latest dataset is up to date as at 22 August 2022,
and will be updated on a quarterly basis. The claims data is broken down by: dose; claim cover decision
(accepted, declined, pending); primary injury; decline reason; severity of injury; ethnicity; sex; lodgement
month; DHB region and, time between date of injury and lodgement date.
As this data is publicly available, we are refusing to provide a copy of it in this response. This decision has
been made under section 18(d) of the Act.
