Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 26 July 2022. Your
questions are listed below, followed by an answer for each.
1. A list of al Police Manual chapters in the “Use of Force” section.
The following Police Instructions are part of the ‘Use of Force’ chapter:
• Use of Force Overview
• Approved Tactical equipment and carriage for constables and Authorised Officers
(non specialist)
• Batons
• CS Gas
• eXact Impact XM1006
• Mechanical restraints
• Oleoresin Capsicum Spray
• Police Firearms
• Positional asphyxia
• TASER (Conducted Electrical Weapons)
2. All versions of the “eXact Impact XM1006” Police Manual chapter, including:
2a. The date on which it the version came into effect
2b. The date on which the version ended
The following table details the dates the previous versions of the eXact iMpact XM1006
Police Instructions chapter came into effect and then ended:

is no longer in effect.
2d. If this Police Manual chapter is still in effect, its next planned review date
The eXact iMpact Police Instructions chapter Version 6.0 is still active, with its next review
date scheduled for 3 June 2024.
3. Al versions of the “eXact Impact QX1006 (Less lethal option)” Police Manual
chapter, including:
3a. The date on which it the version came into effect
3b. The date on which the version ended
3c. Whether or not there is a current version of this Police Manual chapter, or if it
is no longer in effect.
3d. If this Police Manual chapter is still in effect, its next planned review date
The eXact Impact QX1006 (Less lethal option) Police Instructions chapter does not exist.
The QX1006 referenced in your earlier request IR-01-22-11586 was a typo and should
have read eXact Impact XM1006 (Less lethal option) instead. Your question is refused
under section 18(e) of the OIA as the document does not exist.
4. The licence under which this information is released.
Police’s disclosure under the OIA is not accompanied by any specific licence to reuse the
information; as to any documents Crown copyright would apply but, according to
convention, not claimed in the circumstances.
