We are responding to your official information request made to the Cabinet Office on 2
July 2022. Your request was for:
“… a record of times ‘Whangārei’, or ‘Whangarei’, was been mentioned in Cabinet
papers from the date beginning 26 October 2017 to present.”
On 14 July 2022, the Cabinet Office consulted with you to refine your request due to its
broad scope. You agreed to refine your request to:
“Only the mention of Whangārei pertaining to funding decisions within Cabinet.”
On 25 July 2022, the Cabinet Office consulted with you again to refine your request
further due to a substantial amount of material potentially being within scope. You
agreed to refine your request further to:
“Al documents and Cabinet papers mentioning Whangārei in relation to infrastructure
and health funding decisions from the date beginning October 2017.”
On 27 July 2022, the Cabinet Office extended their time limit for deciding on your
request by an additional 20 working days. The Cabinet Office subsequently
transferred part of your request to the of ice of Hon Kelvin Davis under s 14(b)(i ) of
the Official Information Act 1982 (
the Act), as part of the request is more closely
connected to Minister Davis’ ministerial functions.
We have considered your request in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
One Cabinet paper from Hon Kelvin Davis’ portfolios has been identified to be within
scope of your request,

ely released and is available on the Ministry of
