I refer to your request for information dated 21 June 2022, which was received by Greater Wellington
Regional Council (Greater Wellington) on 22 June 2022. You have requested the following
information in regards to your previous LGOIMA request (2021-249) about the waste water
discharge into the Onepoto arm of Porirua Harbour on or about 18 and 20 July 2021:
1. “Has GWRC concluded its investigation.
2. If it hasn’t concluded its investigation please provide me with the reasons and the expected
time frame.
3. If GWRC has concluded its investigation what has the outcome of that.
4. If GWRC has concluded its investigation will it be proceeding with prosecution
5. If GWRC has concluded its investigation and is not proceeding with prosecution, the reasons
why
6. If GWRC has concluded its investigation and is not proceeding with prosecution, a copy of all
information that GWRC has relied upon in coming to this conclusion.
7. If GWRC has concluded its investigation and is proceeding with prosecution, information so I
can understand the current status of those proceedings”.

Greater Wellington’s response follows:
1 Greater Wellington Regional Council has not concluded its investigation into this incident.
2 The incident was not deemed to be a priority and has been put on hold. As of the date of this
letter Greater Wellington does not have a date for when this investigation will be concluded.
3-7 Greater Wellington has not concluded its investigation as outlined in 1 and 2 above.
If you have any concerns with the decision(s) referred to in this letter, you have the right to request
an investigation and review by the Ombudsman under section 27(3) of the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987.
