Section 10(2) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
(“
LGOIMA”) requires a valid request for official information to be specified with due
particularity. We do not consider your request, in its current form, to be specific enough for us
to identify the information you seek.
Please consider clarifying or amending your request, clearly stating the details of the
information you request. In particular, it would be helpful if you could identify a particular topic
the communications may relate to or limit the request to a specific group or individuals. Once
we have received your clarification, we will acknowledge it as a new request and begin to
process it under LGOIMA.
Please also note that where a request covers a large amount of correspondence, which may
involve substantial time and resource, council will consider both sections 13 (allowing the
council to fix a charge for the supply of official information) and 17(f) of LGOIMA (providing for
refusal because the requested information cannot be made available without substantial
collation and research).
