On 16 April 2022, you emailed the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) 
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following information: 
“Ministers and DIA officials have given the statistic of 35,000 people annually 
who get sick from drinking tap water in New Zealand. 
How many of the 35,000 get sick from drinking water provided by local 
authorities via reticulation, if any?” 
This letter is to advise you that we are transferring your request, in full, under section 14(b)(i) 
of the Act, as we believe that the information is not held by the Department, but is held by 
the Ministry of Health.
