Official Information Act request relating to individuals with Autism and He Arange Ake 
programme 
 
Thank  you  for  your  request  made  under  the  Official  Information  Act  (the  Act),  received  on  
1 April 2022. Your request was 
 
“What steps, if any, have been taken to ensure that individuals with Autism spectrum 
disorders are not mistakenly referred to the He Aranga Ake programme, a has occured 
with the UK's 'Prevent' deradicalisation programme.” 
 
I believe that the information you have requested is more closely connected with the functions 
of the New Zealand Police (the Police). Accordingly, I have decided under section 14(b)(ii) of 
the Act to transfer your request to the Police. 
 
The  Police  has  the  usual  timeframes  under  the  Act  from  receipt  of  this  transfer  to  make  a 
decision on your request.
