Your Official Information Act request OIA21/22-0654
Thank you for your email of 28 March 2022 requesting the following information under the
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“Could you please provide me with any information relating to internal discussions
within the DIA or correspondence with the New Zealand Treasury and/or the
Parliamentary Counsel Office about the possible repeal of the Wel ington City Milk-
supply Act 1919 in the run-up to the release of the introduction of the Statutes Repeal
Bil  to Parliament by Minister Steven Joyce and Parliamentary Under Secretary David
Seymour on 7 September 2016.”
The Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) is refusing your request under section
18(e) of the Act, as no information within scope exists.
Repealing the Milk-supply Act is not a priority while the Department is progressing an
ambitious package of reforms across the local government sector.
We intend to publish our response to your request on www.dia.govt.nz. This letter, with
your personal details removed, will be published in its entirety. Publishing responses
increases the availability of information to the public and is consistent with the Act’s
purpose of enabling more effective participation in the making and administration of laws
and policies and promoting the accountability of Ministers and officials.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Act, to seek an investigation and review of my
decision by the Office of the Ombudsman. The postal address of the Office of the
Ombudsman is PO Box 10152, Wel ington. Alternatively, you can phone 0800 802 602 or
email [email address].
