Health (the Ministry) received on 7 March 2022. You specifically requested:  
 
“As of Monday March 7th, I would like to know how many cases of the Delta variant are 
currently being treated in hospital, and if possible, a breakdown by DHB.” 
The Ministry does not hold any information relating to your request as variants of COVID-19 are 
determined by Whole Genome Sequencing undertaken by the Institute of Environmental 
Science and Research (ESR). As such, I have decided to transfer your request to ESR under 
section 14(b)(ii) of the Act. You can expect a response to your request from ESR in due course.
