Tēnā koe Chuck
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request, which was partially transferred to me
for response on 5 July 2022. You asked the fol owing:
any and all correspondence sought by the Police and Defense to either MOH or Government
or any other agency for mandating vaccines including but not limited to -recommendation
reporting.
We note that on 15 July 2022, Police advised you that one document was believed to be in scope of
your request. On further examination, we have determined that the document is not in scope as the
document was not received by the former Minister of Police, Hon Poto Williams. I am therefore
refusing this aspect of your request under s18(g) of the OIA, on the basis that the information is not
held.
Police has followed a risk assessment process to determine the workplace implications which have
informed an organisational policy. As COVID-19 has progressed since last year, the risk assessment
and policy have been updated. Currently, all staff are encouraged to be fully vaccinated, including
remaining up to date with boosters, in alignment with Ministry of Health public health
guidance. Police recognise the right of a staff member to remain unvaccinated or not fully
vaccinated.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision if you are not satisfied with my
response to your request.
Nāku noa, nā
Hon Chris Hipkins
Minister of Police
