 Partial transfer of the request you made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
The below questions from your email of 21 January 2022 to NZ Police were transferred to Waka 
Kotahi NZ Transport Agency for response under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
 - Total Number of car crashes through 2020, 2021 and 2022 (to date) for comparative 
purposes 
- Total Number of singular car crashes 
- Total Number of multiple car crashes 
- Can you confirm if the Coroner assessed if any of the drivers suffered a sudden event in 
advance 
- If not - why not? And can an assessment be done after the fact. 
 
The information you have requested in the last two questions is more closely connected with the 
functions of the Ministry of Justice than with Waka Kotahi. Therefore, I am transferring this part of your 
request to the Ministry of Justice under section 14 of the Act. 
 
The time limit for their response to you is 20 working days from 9 February 2022, so you can expect a 
response from the Ministry of Justice on or before 9 March 2022.
