[FYI request #18212 email] Tēnā koe John Luke
I refer to your request received on 17 January 2022, which has been considered under
the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), for the following information:
•
“a list of vacancy (ministerial appointment only, e.g. board member, Lay
member, Trustee etc) that the nomination period has been closed but still under
consideration by the Minister or Department. In your list, can you please
included the date that vacancy been advertised, when the vacancy been closed
and how you call for nomination (e.g. seek website etc) as well.”
•
“Also, I would like to know if you have any future opening in 2022. e.g. the
position that will call for nomination in the year of 2022.”
As a response to your first request (the first bullet above), currently Manatū Taonga is
in the process of commissioning an advertisement for the Arts Council of New Zealand
Toi Aotearoa. However, there are currently no other vacancies being considered by
one of the four Ministers Manatū Taonga supports with board appointments.
In respect of both of your requests, Manatū Taonga is releasing to you details of
members and chairs whose terms are expiring in 2022. You will note that the names,
positions, and expiry dates of present terms are included in each table. When the
membership of a board member is coming up for expiry, Manatū Taonga will initiate
the Cabinet appointments process once the member has confirmed their availability
to serve another term.
However, in some instances where a member confirms that they are unavailable to
serve a further term or they have resigned, then a vacancy will be available. In these
cases, Manatū Taonga may seek approval from the appropriate Minister to do one of
the following:
a) Consider potential replacement board member candidates from an existing
nominations database kept by Manatū Taonga governance and appointments
team; or
b) Approve Manatū Taonga governance and appointments team to advertise for
the vacant board member position on websites such as Seek.
Expression of interest forms, nomination forms, candidate CVs and other related
documents are regularly received and filed in the Manatū Taonga nominations
database for future use.
