Thank you for your email of 27 November 2021 to the Department of Corrections – Ara 
Poutama Aotearoa, requesting the following information: 
 
1) Invoice/s from Boffa Miskell Limited relating to landscape planning work 
undertaken for Waikeria Prison expansion. 
2) Invoice/s from Boffa Miskell Limited relating to landscape planning work 
undertaken for Auckland South Corrections Facility expansion. 
3) Invoice/s from Boffa Miskell Limited relating to landscape architecture or planning 
work undertaken at other prison sites. 
 
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). 
 
On 8 December 2021, Corrections wrote to you requesting clarification of your request, 
because as it is currently worded, we would likely refuse it in full under section 18(f) of the 
OIA. As you have not responded to clarify any parts of your request, we are refusing your 
request in full under section 18(f) of the OIA, as providing the information requested would 
require substantial collation and research. In accordance with section 18A of the OIA, we 
have considered whether affixing a charge or extending the time limit to respond would 
enable the request to be granted. However, we do not consider that this would be the case 
for your request. You are welcome to contact us to clarify the scope of your request and we 
will reconsider our response. 
 
I encourage you to raise any concerns about this response with Corrections. Alternatively, 
you are advised of your right to also raise any concerns with the Office of the Ombudsman.
