We refer to your information request dated 20 October 2021 made under the Official Information 
Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested information regarding entry to the 2020 and 2021 Medicine 
(MB ChB) and Dentistry (BDS) programmes for Refugee sub-category applicants under the Health 
Sciences First Year (HSFY) category. 
 
We set out our responses to each of your questions below. 
 
1.  Minimum and maximum scores for individuals offered a place to the MB ChB 
programme via HSFY for the Refugee sub-category for 2020 and 2021 
 
Please find below the minimum and highest scores to receive an offer to the MB ChB programme in 
2020 and 2021 for HSFY applicants via the Refugee sub-category. Please note that for privacy 
reasons, the University’s standard practice is not to report on numbers where those numbers are 
below five. Where the numbers are very low, there is a risk that the grades of those individuals can 
be determined/inferred. Accordingly, we withhold this information pursuant to section 9(2)(a) of the 
Act.

via the Refugee sub-category and the total number of HSFY applicants to the 2021 MB 
ChB and BDS programmes via the Refugee sub-category 
 
The number of Refugee sub-category applicants under the HSFY category for the 2021 MB ChB 
programme is 12. 
 
The number of Refugee sub-category applicants under the HSFY category to receive an offer for the 
2021 MB ChB programme is 9. Of these students, 8 were admitted to the programme. 
 
The number of Refugee sub-category applicants under the HSFY category for the 2021 BDS 
programme is 10. 
 
The number of Refugee sub-category applicants under the HSFY category to receive an offer for the 
2021 BDS programme is 6. Of these students, 1 was admitted to the programme.
