I refer to your email dated 15 October 2021 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act from Canterbury DHB and West Coast DHB. Specifically:   
 
1.  Which PET CT suppliers do you use for your PET CT referrals? 
 
Canterbury DHB is the lead DHB for the South Island DHB-wide contracts with two providers for PET CT 
services: Pacific Radiology Group and Mercy Radiology.  
 
2.  How are the tenders for these referrals accessed and when are they put out to tender? 
 
The contracted services have not been put out to tender.  Pacific Radiology Group has the sole PET CT 
scanner in the South Island. The Canterbury DHB contracts Mercy Radiology to provide Gallium-68 
Dotatate PET CT scans as it is the only radiology provider in New Zealand that provides this type of scan. 
  
3.  Are any of your PET CT referrals currently under contract with your suppliers and if so when 
are the contracts up for renewal? 
 
Both contracts are up for renewal before the end of this year.  
 
4.  Are there any extra costs to the DHB for providing PET CT scans to patients, e.g. travel costs, 
accommodation?  
 
Travel and accommodation costs for eligible patients is funded through the National Travel Assistance 
programme by the relevant DHB of domicile. Information on the NTA scheme and related eligibility 
criteria and funding assistance is publicly available at the Ministry of Health website at the following
