Thank you for your email of 14 June 2021 requesting the following information from the Ministry of 
Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
 
‘Al  communications, briefings, meeting notes (formal and informal ie those in staff notebooks or 
disposable Post it-style note sheets), minutes and text messages from and to you and/or your staff 
regarding the proposed film They Are Us sent, received or written in the time period up til  11 June 
2021.’ 
 
MBIE has interpreted your request as follows: 
 
Al  communications, briefings, meeting notes (formal and informal ie those in staff notebooks or 
disposable Post it-style note sheets), minutes and text messages from and to you and/or your staff 
regarding the proposed film They Are Us sent, received or written in the time period up til  11 June 
2021, that relates to an application for funding under the New Zealand Screen Production Grant.” 
 
The They Are Us production has not made an application for funding under the New Zealand Screen 
Production Grant.  Therefore, your request is being refused under section 18(e) of the Act, as the 
information does not exist. 
 
You have the right to seek investigation and review of my decision by the Ombudsman, in accordance
